The best time to visit Mount Bromo is on April - November, during these months the condition on this mountain area will be clear, no foggy, and clear panoramic views of the caldera, ideal conditions for sunrise and astrophotography.

If you are interested to see the sunset view from Bromo mountain peak, you can depart from Surabaya or Malang city at 11.00 am, so that you will have time to take picures for other landscapes at afternoon. But if you prefer take the sunrise view, you can choose the arrival time to Surabaya at day or afternoon time by staying overnight in nearby hotels.

The Tengger Bromo National Park has 5 interesting places to enjoy the sunrise, milky way and other landscapes. They are Pananjakan (the highest summit in Tengger National Park), Kingkong summit, Love Hill, and Seruni Point Peak. the crater will seem amazing when the tourists standing up witnessing the views from these summit.

The highest summit to see the sunrise on on Pananjakan or Kingkong peaks. To reach the high summit of Mt Bromo, we recommend using a private 4WD jeep because the route is steep and curving. If you prefer like to see sunrise by trekking, the most recommended place is on Seruni Point, this summit is not to high like Pananjakan or Kingkong Peaks.

At 02.30 am, Our jeep driver will pick you up in neaby hotel around Mt Bromo, then take you to the jeep parking on Pananjakan or Kingkong peaks, then cotinue walk to the sunrise view point for 10 - 15 minutes.

You will get the sunrise view point at 03.00 - 03.30 am, you can wait the sunrise time while enjoy various of local foods, tea or coffee in local food stores. But if you have a hobby to shoot the Milky Way, you can directly walk to the main place and stand your tripod to begin your photography.

At 05.20 am, you will see Mount Bromo sunrise clearly from the high peak, and continue enjoy other views such as Mt Batok, Crater, Widodaren mountain, a massive Sea of Sand and the highest volcano summit also seem from this peak called Semeru volcano tengger national park.

Afterward, go back to your jeep at 06.00 am, then drive to the jeep parking on Sea of Sand, and continue trek to the crater for 30 minutes, you will do trekking in along a massive Sea of Sand, this sand was from the last eruption. After get the mountain crater, you can enjoy your times until really satisfied.

The Eruption of Mount Bromo Tengger National Park

Mount Bromo Tengger National Park is an active volcano in East Java that has erupted and spewed volcanic material on several occasions. In the 20th century alone, this volcano erupted for three times, with each event exhibiting its own distinct characteristics.

The most devastating eruption occurred in 1974, resulting in a high number of casualties. It erupts frequently, with the earliest recorded eruption dating back to 1775.

The eruption in early 2011 was a continuation of the activity that began in November 2010. Leading up to December 2010, This mountain was reported to be emitting volcanic ash, and tremor activity dominated seismograph readings between January 21 and January 23, 2011.

More recent eruptive activity occurred in late 2015, especifically in December when Bromo mountain exhibited signs of being an active volcano by emitting thick volcanic smoke and occasionally spewing hot, sulfurous ash from its crater.

The eruption that began in December 2015 has been notably prolonged. Residents have taken measures to mitigate the impacts and damage caused by the eruption, including distributing face masks and issuing advisories to clear accumulated ash from rooftops to prevent structural collapses.
